Students at Felixstowe School are celebrating their Key Stage 5 results with many progressing to universities, training opportunities and employment.

Among those celebrating are Kate Golden, who achieved an outstanding A*, A and B and will go on to read Film and Television Studies at the University of Exeter, and Jack Crisp, who achieved B, B and Distinction Star and will begin studying Graphic Design at Norwich University of the Arts.

Students achieved strong outcomes across both academic and vocational pathways. At A-level, 13% of grades were awarded at A*-A, over a third at A*-B and nearly two-thirds at A*-C while technical qualifications were a particular strength, with 75% of students achieving Distinction grades and all students achieving at least a Merit.

Headteacher Emma Wilson-Downes said: “Results day is always one of my favourite days of the year because it gives us the opportunity to celebrate our students and everything they have achieved.

“We are enormously proud of this cohort, not just because of their examination results, but because of the young adults they have become.

“Throughout their time with us they have shown ambition, resilience and kindness, and they have embodied our values of Inspiration, Influence and Integrity in everything they do.

“Kate and Jack are wonderful examples of the talent and determination we see across our Sixth Form. I am delighted to see them progressing to courses that they are passionate about, and I know they will go on to achieve great things.

“I would also like to thank our staff, families and wider community for the support they have provided throughout our students’ journeys. Their encouragement has played an important part in today’s success.”

As a small school sixth form, Felixstowe School is able to provide students with highly personalised support, ensuring that every young person is known as an individual and encouraged to achieve their aspirations. This year’s results reflect the hard work of students and staff alike, alongside the strong relationships that underpin the Sixth Form experience.

The school extends its congratulations to all members of the Class of 2026 and wishes them every success as they embark on the next stage of their education, training and careers.

Felixstowe School is delighted to announce that we have been named a centre of excellence for Design and Technology education across the region.

The school has been officially designated a Design and Technology Association (D&TA) D&T Hub School, recognising a longstanding commitment to innovation, creativity and high-quality technical education.

The prestigious appointment recognises the pivotal role that Design and Technology plays within the school’s curriculum and places Felixstowe School at the heart of inspiring the next generation of designers, engineers, innovators and problem-solvers.

As part of the designation, Tom Corker, Head of Technology at Felixstowe School, has also been appointed Regional D&T Leader, a role that will see him working with schools across the area to share best practice.

Mr Corker said: “I’m thrilled to be working with colleagues from across the region to strengthen Design and Technology education.

“We feel it is an honour that the Design & Technology Association approached us after hearing of our successes. We are one of only 14 schools nationally and the only school in Suffolk to be awarded this designation.

“Everyone in our department has worked tirelessly to set a strong standard at Felixstowe School and this is an exciting opportunity to ensure all young people have access to ambitious, high-quality Design and Technology experiences.”

Through its new Hub School status, Felixstowe School will support collaboration between schools across the region and help ensure young people are well prepared for future pathways in education, employment and apprenticeships.

Unity Schools Partnership is consulting on making a significant change to Felixstowe School to close the Sixth Form and amend the age range of the School from 11-to-18 to 11-to-16 years old.
